Alliteration is the use of words that all start with the same letter in a sentence. A few examples of alliteration are below:
1. Boisterous Brooklyn A. beat Billy at boardgames badly.
2. Intelligent Isaac isolated instantly in Ireland.
3. Rambunctious Ramona ran right
4. Brilliant Brooklyn B borrowed Brooklyn’s brown baseball bat.
5. Joyous Jaylyn jumped like a jolly jaguar.
6. Amazing Ava almost ate an apple.
7. A big bad brown bear almost baited brilliant Braxton.
8. Daring Damillion dove down with dolphins.
9. Artistic Abigael already asked about amazing artwork.
10. Loud Liam liked licking lollipops in little lakes.
11. Dazzling Dawsyn decided to dance down dark Disneyland.
12. Awesome Aubree agreed to amaze all angry alligators.
13. Adventurous Anthony already ate an all the almonds.
14. Silly Sam sat on seven slippery slithering snakes.
15. Perfect Porter pretended to be a pretty, perfect princess.
16. Courageous Carson crouched with carnivorous cats.
17. Ali the amazing athletic acrobat also did aerobics and archery.
18. Magnificent Madison made many more moccasins at the market.
19. Kind Kiera was knowledgeable about kangaroos and koalas.
20. Lively Logan loved living like loud lions.
See how that works? As a warm up, I’d like you to choose 3-5 people (they can be family, friends, or made up people) and write an alliteration sentence about them like I did for each of your classmates above.

The silly Youtube video below is an introduction to the writing/art activity that we will be working on this week. While you are watching, take note of the ice cream flavours that have alliteration. For example, the second flavour (tapioca smoked baloney) is NOT alliteration, but the third flavour (checkerberry cheddar chew) IS alliteration! See how many flavours that use alliteration you can count.
So, how many did you count that had all of the ingredients start with the same letter?
I counted 10!
I counted 10!
Your next task of this assignment, is to brainstorm five unique flavours of ice cream, like Ebenezer Bleezer did in his video. When you are brainstorming the flavours, keep a few things in mind:
1. Make sure that you are using alliteration when creating your flavors.
2. Try to include 3 - 4 words in your flavour. It can be a good tasting one (sweet strawberry sundae) or not-so-good tasting ones (purple pepper pickled pumpkin). It is sometimes fun to pair a food item with a dessert item - makes for very unique flavours!
3. If you find it helpful, you can google foods that start with different letters if you are having a hard time coming up with some on your own.
4. If you can, try to think of 5 flavours that are all different colours from the others. It will make the artwork look nicer.
Here is a list of words that are commonly used at the end of ice cream flavours. You can choose to use them if you wish, but do not have to!
Twist, Dip, Swirl, Sherbet, Nut, Fudge, Pinwheel, Chip, Chunk, Chew, Cluster, Bit, Ripple, and Ribbon

Your next step is to draw an ice cream cone with 5 scoops on it. These scoops will each represent the flavours that you brainstormed in the last step. Follow the steps below to draw your ice cream cone. Once it is drawn, you can colour the flavours accordingly. Outlining the whole thing in black pen really makes it stand out!
If you would like me to, just mention in the email or message when you send me this completed activity that you would like yours to be posted on the website. I will put pictures of completed artwork up here (if you give me permission!) and all of your classmates can come on here at the end of the week to see all of the nice work that was done. It is sort of like the new version of a bulletin board!
