Classic Fairy Tales are very well known. What we will be reading and writing about this week are "fractured" fairy tales - which basically means our favourite fairy tale stories with a new creative spin.
1. The first reading assignment is going to be a bit different. On the next tab, I will post six "fractured fairy tale" readers theatre scripts. Here is where you get to make a few decisions:
- First, you will pick two (or more!) fractured fairy tales to read.
- Next, you can choose if you just want to read them silently to yourself, or if you want to recruit some family members and make it into a real readers theatre! If you don't have enough people to fill all of the characters, you can each play two or three characters. (*If you choose this option, I encourage you to get creative with it! As always, you can send me pictures or videos of this!)
2. Once you are done reading two or more of the readers theatre scripts, I want you to read "The True Story of the Three Little Pigs," which was written from the perspective of the WOLF - a fun twist on the original story!
Once you have done this reading, you will choose your favourite story (either the Three Little Pigs, or your favourite readers theatre story) and move onto the final tab to compare and contrast this twisted story to the original story using a Venn diagram.

For your reading response this week, you will be comparing and contrasting your favourite fractured fairytale using the Venn Diagram below. You can print a copy that is linked below, or just make your own on a blank piece of paper. Remember, the middle is things that both versions have in common, whereas the sides are what is unique to each story. Think of including things that relate to the following:
- characters
- whose perspective it is told in
- setting
- good guys? bad guys?
- storyline
- ending
